【Title】Numerical Study of Enhanced Heat-Transfer Characteristics Based on a New Designed Channel in Laminar Flow
【Abstract】A numerical study was performed to investigate the heat transfer and fluid flow in rectangular channel mounted with new designed model obstacles and rectangular obstacles. The result showed that the channel with new designed model had a better hydraulic performance and heat transfer than that with rectangular obstacles, especially at lower Reynolds number. It also suggested the vortices generated by the new model’s obstacles can effectively enhance heat transfer along the obstacle surfaces. Vortices that have larger area and length can effectively help fluid to interact with the obstacles and heated wall and increase the interaction time between fluid flow and heated wall. A higher gradient temperature distribution and small included angle are realized near wall zone in the channel with new model than that with rectangular one. Comparison of new designed model and rectangular obstacles show that the former one could effectively avoid local overheating. The numerical results also show that the obstacle’s shape and geometry strongly affect the thermal/hydraulic performance of channel in laminar flow.
