【Title】Analyzing and treatment of a nuclear power plant generator rotor insulation monitoring false alarm
【Abstract】A power plant #3\4 generator rotor insulation monitoring system flashed the false alarm frequently at the startup phase. After simulation test, it was rid that the reason was caused by the contact resistance between the carbon brush and the slip ring in our country’s electrical experts. It was found the root cause, which was the carbon brush jumped on the slip ring, the measure current was cut off and on, the voltage on the capacitor couldn’t change immediately as the current was on, the current wave was abnormal, then the relay gave a wrong math calculation, this lead to the false alarm. The checking item was added to the carbon brush and slip ring and the basic standard was made. Further test proved adding a second carbon brush in parallel connection could improve the carbon brush reliability and resolve the problem completely.
