【Abstract】In order to make full use of the original transmission corridor, improving transmission ability of power network, a new idea for increasing the power transmission ability has been put forward which is based on the VSC technology. Firstly, the existing problems of urban power network are analyzed. Then according to the characteristics of cable line in urban power network, the technology scheme of the original AC transmission corridor power transmission ability increasing is proposed, and the operation control mode and technical characteristics of the system are described. At the last, the simulation of the above technology scheme is carried out, the results show that the proposed scheme can improve the transmission capacity of the original AC transmission line, which can be improved by 1.58 times.
