【Abstract】Since two units of PT .GH EMM Indonesia were put into operation in 2011, because the power grid system structure in Sumatera Selatan is weak and it is located in the tropical rainforest have the climate characteristics of intensity and high frequency thunderstorm, combined with the power transmission line structure, relay protection ,automatic device logic and setting many imperfect problems, caused PT .GH EMM Indonesia two 150KV transmission lines trip events many times, that cause the power plant blackout, which make greatly safety menace to the power plant safety production. At the same time, Sumatera Selatan often occur power grid failure, causing power grid frequency swing. This paper analysis a few typical blackout events of PT .GH EMM Indonesia, which caused by power system fault and lightning stroke, in the paper analyses the reason from a technical point of view, take corresponding measures, improve the security and stability of power grid, and the correct action rate of protection and automation device, maximum limit reduces the power system fault and abnormal influence on the safety operation of PT .GH EMM Indonesia. At the same time, propose the improvement measures and countermeasures to the power plant which have similar transmission line structure configuration.
